We are a first-year team from Douglas County, Colorado, and in March we will run the Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay — 120 miles from Baker, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. The race does not stop. Each runner takes a stage and hands the baton to the next, until it is finished. Every one of them will carry the name of a fallen officer the whole way.
One team Our runners come from across Douglas County and from different corners of county government — different uniforms, different buildings. For one weekend and 120 miles they are one team, and they are running to remember.
Recognition is always the sponsor's choice — including anonymity. Nothing is published without your say-so.
No two stages of the race are alike. Some are flat and some climb; some are run in the heat of the day and some in the dark of night. This race requires endurance, teamwork and a commitment to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Provisions, printing, gear. Feed a BBQ, print the shirts and the banner, outfit the runners for the night stages. If your business makes it or sells it, there is a good chance we need it. Generosity in any form is appreciated, and all of it helps carry this team to the starting line.
All donations are welcome and appreciated, no matter the amount. Give through our page with Beyond the Badge, or email us and we will take it from there.
Beyond the Badge has generously offered their 501(c)(3) to receive and manage every donation made to this team — so that your gift is handled properly from the moment it is given. We could not run this campaign without them.
Were it not for you, there would be no team on that road.
You said yes before there was anything to show you — no finish line, no photographs, no proof it would work. Only a road across the Mojave and a promise to carry a name across every mile of it.
Some of you are businesses. Some are families. Some of you asked us not to say who you are at all.
What you share is this: you supported our goal, you believed in what we set out to do, and you trusted us to carry those names well.
We will run the whole way knowing you are behind us. Thank you.
